cinematography:
- The scene starts off with a close up on the man asking for help leading to a bigger emotional response from the audience because you can see the man is tearing up. This also makes it feel like he's speaking directly to the audience as no one else is seen yet.
- As he speaks the camera slowly zooms out into an over the shoulder shot slowly introducing the Godfather.
- The Godfathers face isn't shown until after the man whispers in his ear to build tension on who the man is asking for help.
mis-en-scene:
- Lighting in the room is low key and theres only one lamp on building tension (similar lighting to Apocalypse Now).
- The Godfathers side is darker which suggests that he has a dark side to him that the man asking for help doesn't as he's asking someone else to do the job for him.
- You can slightly hear birds chirping and the cat purring but other than that the surroundings are very quiet as they speak.
- Some music towards the end of the scene and people chatting which shows while everyone is celebrating with the Godfathers daughter, he's still working. This shows he has an important job as even on special days he can't take the day off.
performance:
- Marlon Brando is in the film just like in Apocalypse Now which shows he was a favourite of Coppola.
- Marlon Brando plays an important role of a leader in both Apocalypse Now and The Godfather.
